Empty to Energised Grant - Supporting Thriving High Streets

Pilot Scheme - Bangor and Newtownards  | Launch expected Autumn 2025

The Empty to Energised Grant Scheme will provide financial assistance to property owners who want to renovate vacant properties and introduce new commercial uses.

This is the first time a scheme of this nature has been made available in Ards and North Down, with the initial pilot being rolled out in Bangor City and Newtownards Town Centre.

Ards and North Down Borough Council has committed £460,000 grant support.

The pilot scheme will open for property owners interested in the scheme to complete a questionnaire where respondents will be invited to participate in 1:1 engagement sessions from Monday 23 June 2025.

The insights gathered from these activities will be analysed and used to shape the final scheme, which is set to launch in Autumn 2025.
