Ballywalter Main Street Environmental Improvement Scheme
The core of Ballywalter's Main Street is home to the Village Hall, Pharmacy, Memorial Garden, Ballywalter War Memorial, local shops, takeaways, businesses, and residences. A specific environmental improvement project would help to place emphasis on this central Street, while enhancing the uniqueness of Ballywalter's Village quality.
AECOM have been appointed to consider design options for an Environmental Improvement Scheme which will identify how the full regeneration potential of the area can be realised as part of the long term vision. The design aims to create an accessible vibrant and welcoming Main Street in the heart of the village. The project would include the incorporation of high-quality surface materials, improvements to the footpaths, junctions, on-street parking, new street furniture, SUDS planting and tree planting.
Phase One also improves two public open spaces by the war memorial and at the Square whilst connecting the Main Street to the Harbour and the recently redeveloped Ballywalter Lime Kilns.
A public engagement session is being held as follows:
Tuesday 30th September | 4pm to 8pm | Ballywalter Village Hall, 49-51 Main Street, Ballywalter
Please come along and see the draft designs for the project and chat to the design team and Council Officers.
If you are unable to attend the workshop but would like to contribute your views, please email regeneration@ardsandnorthdown.gov.uk
Please note: This is a preliminary design only. A scheme will be dependent on securing funding and statutory consents before proceeding any further
