The upgrade forms part of the Borough's wider Play initiative, aimed at improving outdoor recreational spaces and creating more inclusive, engaging environments for children and families across the area.

Pupils from St Patrick's Primary School enjoyed the new equipment, spending time exploring the wide range of play opportunities now available within the park. The Mayor joined children, teachers and council staff in celebrating the completion of the project.

The redesigned play area features attractive Rubina-style wooden play equipment, giving the park a natural and welcoming appearance that enhances the overall setting for all visitors. The carefully chosen timber structures blend into the coastal surroundings while providing a modern and durable play environment.

New swings, slides and climbing units offer a variety of activities suitable for different ages and abilities, encouraging imaginative play, physical activity and social interaction. The inclusive design ensures that more children can enjoy the facilities together in a safe and accessible environment.

Mayor of North Down and Ards, Councillor Gillian McCollum said,

"It's fantastic to see Seapark play area transformed through this investment. Spaces like this are vital for our communities, giving children a safe and inclusive place to play.

I was delighted to meet pupils from St Patrick's Primary School and see how much they are already enjoying the new facilities. This is a great example of our ongoing commitment to improving play spaces across the Borough."

The refurbishment is one of several planned improvements taking place across the Borough. Additional upgrades are scheduled for play parks in Ballyhalbert, Millisle, Tullymally and other locations as part of the Council's ongoing commitment to enhancing recreational facilities for residents and visitors alike.
