Artist in Residence Appointed at Seacourt Print Workshop
Released: Thursday 30 April 2026
Ards and North Down Borough Council, with support from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, is pleased to announce the appointment of Imogen Donegan as the new Artist in Residence at Seacourt Print Workshop, Bangor.
The residency will run for up to 12 months from April 2026 to March 2027 and is delivered in partnership with Seacourt Print Workshop, one of Northern Ireland's leading printmaking centres.
Imogen Donegan is a multi‑media artist living and working in Bangor, whose practice developed as a printmaker at Seacourt Print Workshop. Her work spans printmaking, drawing, animation and film, with a strong emphasis on community engagement and place‑based practice. Throughout the residency, Imogen will create a new body of work exploring Bangor as a place of transition, responding to the city's significant physical and cultural change.
As part of the residency, Imogen proposes to produce an experimental film that combines moving image, animation and printmaking to document a period of generational change within Bangor. The project will be shaped through close engagement with the city and its communities and will form part of the Council's wider programme of arts‑led placemaking during this important period of regeneration.
Speaking about the appointment, Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Gillian McCollum, said:
"We are delighted to appoint Imogen Donegan as Artist in Residence at Seacourt Print Workshop. Imogen's strong connection to Bangor, combined with her commitment to community‑focused, place‑based work, makes her ideally suited to this residency. This project will offer a thoughtful and creative reflection on the city's transformation while actively involving local people in the process."
Commenting on her appointment, Imogen said:
"Seacourt Print Workshop has played a vital role in my development as an artist, so it feels incredibly meaningful to return in this capacity. This residency offers a valuable opportunity to reflect on Bangor at a moment of change - to listen, observe and creatively respond alongside the communities that shape the city. I'm excited to explore new ways of combining film, animation and printmaking to capture this transitional moment."
The residency will include opportunities for public engagement through workshops, talks and events, delivered in collaboration with Seacourt Print Workshop and as part of the Council's annual arts and tourism programme, including initiatives such as Late Night Art Bangor.
