Ards and North Down Council Invites Residents to Help Shape New Community Strategy for 2026-2035
Released: Thursday 26 February 2026
Ards and North Down Borough Council is calling on residents, community groups, stakeholders and partners to help shape a new Community Strategy that will guide the future of local community services across the Borough from 2026 to 2035.
The Community Strategy will establish a clear long-term vision for how services such as play clubs, summer schemes, support for volunteers, and the operation of community centres and halls are delivered throughout the Borough. As part of the development process, residents are encouraged to attend a series of workshops to share their views, priorities and ideas.
"Our Community Strategy will set the direction for community life in Ards and North Down over the next decade," said Councillor Gillian McCollum, Mayor of Ards and North Down.
"We want to work in partnership with people across the Borough to build communities that are active, inclusive, welcoming and safe. You know your local area best - what is working well, what could be better, and what support will help your community thrive. Please take the time to share your thoughts so this strategy truly reflects the needs, ambitions and strengths of our communities."
The Council's engagement programme includes a series of resident workshops held across the Borough where attendees can speak directly with council officers and consultants. These informal events are designed to provide information, gather local feedback, and explore community priorities that will inform the final strategy.
Residents who cannot attend an in-person workshop are strongly encouraged to join our online workshop on 19 March 2026 (7pm-9pm) via www.ardsandnorthdown.gov.uk/communitystrategy.
Contributions from individuals and groups will help shape a strategy that supports community wellbeing, volunteer involvement, inclusive services, and vibrant community spaces.
