Northern Ireland Apprenticeship Week 2026: Invest in Talent - Your Future Business 2-6 February 2026
Released: Monday 19 January 2026
Northern Ireland Apprenticeship Week returns from 2-6 February 2026, celebrating the transformative power of apprenticeships for individuals and businesses alike. Led by the Department for the Economy, this annual initiative brings together councils, employers, universities, further education colleges, and private training providers to raise awareness of the opportunities apprenticeships provide.
Ards and North Down Borough Council, in partnership with South Eastern Regional College (SERC), is proud to support the Week, which highlights how apprenticeships can unlock potential and drive growth across a wide range of sectors.
A key message this year is that apprenticeships are not just for school leavers - they offer opportunities for people of all ages and career stages to gain new skills and qualifications while earning. From engineering and IT to health, hospitality, and creative industries, the Borough boasts a diverse range of apprenticeship pathways designed to meet the needs of both individuals and businesses.
Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Gillian McCollum, said:
"Apprenticeships are a fantastic way to learn and earn, and they are open to everyone - not just young people starting out. Whether you're looking to retrain, upskill, or take a new direction, there are opportunities right here in Ards and North Down. By investing in talent today, we are building a stronger, more resilient economy for tomorrow."
Following Apprenticeship Week, an Apprenticeship Careers Fair will take place on Thursday 19 February at Aurora Aquatic and Leisure Complex, giving residents the chance to meet employers, attend talks and explore the wide range of opportunities available. Places for this event should be booked in advance. To find out more visit: www.andbusiness.co.uk/labour-market-partnership/upcoming-events
