Festive Fun for All as Ards and North Down Celebrates Christmas
Released: Wednesday 12 November 2025
This year's festive celebrations in Ards and North Down promise something for everyone, with a whole season of events and activities to enjoy right across our city, towns and villages. From live performances and family-friendly entertainment to artisan stalls, seasonal treats and sparkling displays, visitors can enjoy an array of festive fun.
Bangor's Christmas in the City kicks off the celebrations on Saturday 22 (1-7pm) and Sunday 23 November (2-6pm), bringing the city centre to life with music, markets and merriment. Visitors can enjoy live performances, family fun, and festive shopping, while exploring the Christmas Passport Trail - collect treats from local businesses. Over the 2-day event grab your selfies at festive light installations in Bangor Castle grounds with lights going on across the city on Saturday evening at 6pm.
The celebrations continue in Newtownards with Christmas in Conway Square on Friday 28 (11am-7pm, lights going on at 4pm) and Saturday 29 November (10am-7pm). The square will be filled with market stalls, crafts, music and storytelling, creating a joyful festive atmosphere throughout the weekend. Families can shop local for seasonal gifts and follow the Christmas Passport Trail to uncover more surprises across the town. That's not all, Come and Meet Paddington™ (Saturday 29 November only), our favourite marmalade-loving bear, will be making personal appearances at intervals between 11am and 3.30pm.
Beyond these weekends, there's even more to enjoy as Ards and North Down's extended Christmas programme brings magic to every corner of the Borough. Highlights include The Creative Peninsula Christmas Fayre at Ards Arts Centre - a unique opportunity to find beautiful, handcrafted gifts - the Moo-sical Christmas Adventure, a fun-filled festive show for little ones, and the Jingle Bell Trail at Bangor Castle Walled Garden, offering a magical outdoor experience for the whole family.
Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Gillian McCollum, said:
"This year we have worked hard to curate a programme of exciting festive activities that will bring people together, celebrating the spirit of the season and supporting local businesses. It's a wonderful time to share in the joy of Christmas."
There really is something for everyone - whether you're making memories with loved ones, soaking up the festive atmosphere, or simply celebrating the magic of the season. Experience the wonder of Ards and North Down this Christmas.
Christmas in the City and Christmas in Conway Square is organised in partnership with Ards and North Down Borough Council, Bangor Chamber of Commerce and Newtownards Chamber of Trade.
