Guidance for residents in the event of a storm

Before a storm

- Secure loose items outside.

- Park cars away from trees and buildings.

- Charge your phones, laptops etc. and spare battery banks.

- Keep a torch and batteries ready.

- Check on vulnerable neighbours.

During a storm

- Stay indoors, away from windows and doors.

- Don't use landline phones during lightning.

- Avoid unnecessary travel.

After a storm

- Watch for fallen roof tiles, trees, power lines or debris - don't touch power lines.

 - Report damage in parks and open spaces to Council: 0300 013 3333

- report fallen trees to DfI roads Service

- Smell gas: NI Gas Emergency - 0800 002 001

- Home damaged or unsafe: - Speak to your home insurance company.
