Councillor Pete Wray has been appointed as Chair of Ards and North Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP).

The PCSP consists of local councillors as well as members of the community who have been appointed by the Northern Ireland Policing Board, plus representatives of statutory organisations who play a role in tackling crime and anti-social behaviour. Together, they aim to make neighbourhoods safer by focusing on the policing and community safety issues that matter most to the people of Ards and North Down.

PCSP Chair, Councillor Pete Wray, said:

"I am very proud to be selected as Chair of Ards and North Down PCSP. Policing and community safety has always been a passion of mine. Before I was elected as Councillor representing the Ards Peninsula in May 2023, I was an independent member of the PCSP. I know the valuable role that both the independent and elected members play in this partnership.

"The PCSP manages and oversees grants throughout the Borough that aim to promote good community relationships with the PSNI and other statutory agencies. We can also help develop a collaborate approach towards increasing community safety and ensuring residents have both a voice on these issues, and also that they have regular updates and information from the PSNI and Council.

"My aim will be to increase community knowledge of PCSP across the Borough, and to encourage the community to engage with various initiatives, making Ards and North Down a safe place to live, work, and visit."

The PCSP regularly consults and engages with the local community on issues of concern in relation to policing and community safety. This helps to prioritise police resources and prepare plans for how particular issues can be tackled.
