Sea Bangor Takes Place This Weekend! (24-25 May)

The City of Bangor will be buzzing with excitement this weekend as the much-loved Sea Bangor Festival makes its return for 2025. Taking place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 May from 12 noon to 6pm, this free family-friendly event, organised by Ards and North Down Borough Council, promises a weekend filled with maritime-themed family fun, entertainment, delicious food, and live music.
Quay Street car park, beside Eisenhower Pier, will take on a distinct holiday atmosphere with the return of the Urban Beach, funfair rides, and summer bar. Families will be able to enjoy a seaside 'rave' and then relax before heading to the pier for some delicious food demos, hot food trucks, a seasonal bar, and a vibrant lineup of live music performances throughout the weekend.
Keeping with the maritime theme, there will be lots more activities on the water too. E-Foiling demos will show how an electric-powered surfboard on a hydrofoil wing can lift almost one metre out of the water. There will also be plenty of 'have a go' sessions as well, with free paddleboarding and kayaking taster sessions at Eisenhower Pier that can be pre-booked, plus the return of the popular annual rowing competition. Cheer on local teams as they go oar-to-oar for the top prize!
Also, this weekend...
- Don't miss the Sea Bangor Market (Sat and Sun, 12 noon - 6pm) in the former TK Maxx building on Main Street, where you can browse and buy local products.
- The Sea Bangor City Passport (Sat, 12 noon - 6pm) will challenge you to embark on a city-wide scavenger hunt and collect stamps from 14 locations around the city for a fun family challenge.
- The Old Market House, Main Street (Sat, 12 noon to 4.30pm) will host a variety of activities including craft workshops and maker demonstrations, children's entertainment, and refreshments.
Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Alistair Cathcart, said:
