Reuse and Repair
Alongside our partnerships with Orchrdville and ROC NI to deliver reuse projects, there is plenty of reuse and repair happening in our Borough.
Bangor Repair Café
Launched in January 2023, the Bangor Repair Cafe holds repair events at various venues across Bangor, usually on the last Saturday of the month.
They offer electrical, textile, woodwork, sewing and general repairs.
Check out their Facebook page to stay up to date on their upcoming events and contact them via email to let them know what you need repaired. This allows them to plan and prepare for your visit.

Habitat ReStore Newtownards
Got some furniture or items in good condition for reuse?
Drop them down to Habitat ReStore Newtownards or arrange collection of bulkier items via telephone. Their wonderful volunteers and staff give your used items a new lease on life.
Check out their workshop where they create artwork, lamps, and other items from pre-loved furniture and materials.

HRC Furniture Reuse Containers
Located at our Bangor (Balloo), Newtownards and Comber HRCs, you can deposit suitable pre-loved furniture, decor and bikes into the Reuse Containers.
These items are collected by East Belfast Mission and redistributed via their Restore and Recycle social enterprise projects.
Quality used furniture, textiles, bikes, books and more are sold at their Restore shops.

HRC Paint Reuse Containers
Located at all nine household recycling centres, our site staff divert tins of paint from disposal to our Paint Reuse Containers.
Complete a form at our site and take all the paint you need to spruce up your garden, do a DIY furniture upcycle, or pursue whatever paint project you have set your heart on.

NIRN coordinated 'Reuse and Repair Week' in 2025 and 2026, bringing together a range of organisations across Northern Ireland to create an exciting line-up of reuse and repair events.
