New Play Area Officially Opens at Bangor Sportsplex

Children and families in Bangor are already enjoying a fantastic new play area at Bangor Sportsplex, following the completion of a major refurbishment project costing £170,000.

The new facility was designed with local children in mind, with pupils from Rathmore Primary School playing a key role in shaping the space by sharing their ideas and helping to choose the features they wanted to see. Following construction throughout July and August, their vision has now become a reality.
To mark the official opening, the Mayor joined pupils from Rathmore Primary School for a special celebration at the site.
Packed with exciting new equipment, including swings, slides and a range of play features designed to encourage active outdoor play, the refreshed play area is already proving popular with local families.
It was a memorable moment for the children involved in the design process, who were delighted to see their ideas brought to life and to try out the equipment for the first time. The investment demonstrates Council's commitment to providing high-quality play and recreation facilities that support children's health, wellbeing and development, while creating welcoming spaces for families to enjoy together.
