Conor Roberts and Gemma O'Keefe, who volunteer every week at the Community Development Hamilton Hub Monday Night Adult Additional Needs Disco, were invited to City Hall by the Mayor in recognition of their commitment and service. The pair play a vital role every week as DJs, tirelessly keeping the music going and ensuring all attendees enjoy a fun, inclusive and welcoming evening.

Their contribution also extends beyond their Monday night discos. Gemma will soon be participating in the Special Olympics in Dublin, representing in wheelchair basketball, while Conor is continuing his commitment to inclusion and community, by volunteering at the upcoming games taking place from 18-21 June.

Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Gillian McCollum said,

"Volunteers like Conor and Gemma are the heart of our community. Their enthusiasm, generosity and commitment make a real difference to people's lives across the Borough. It has been a pleasure to recognise their efforts during Volunteers' Week and to thank them for the positive impact they continue to have."

Volunteers' Week is an annual celebration of the contribution volunteers make across communities, and Ards and North Down Borough Council is proud to recognise all individuals whose efforts support inclusion, wellbeing and community connection.
