Energy Saving Tips for Residents

Simple changes you can make to conserve energy and save money on energy bills.

  • Take shorter showers
  • Don't overfill the kettle - only boil what you need
  • Fit aerators on taps and shower heads
  • Only run the dishwasher when full
  • Insulate water tanks, pipes and radiators
  • Avoid the tumble dryer on sunny days - hang your clothes out to dry
  • Turn appliances off by the switch on the wall - don't leave them on stand-by
  • Turn off the lights everytime you leave the room
  • Consider appliances with higher efficiency ratings - ideally A and above
  • Draught-proof your windows and doors
  • Close curtains at night to retain heat
