Representatives from Bangor Horticultural Society and the Bangor Castle Walled Garden team were welcomed recently to celebrate an outstanding fundraising achievement. A cheque for £3,027.85 was presented, representing donations from the public for fruit and vegetables grown in Bangor Castle Walled Garden. These funds will support the Mayor's chosen charities: Women's Aid, St Vincent de Paul, and Orchardville.

Throughout the summer, Bangor Horticultural Society volunteers dedicated their Saturday mornings to make fresh produce available to the public. Their efforts in planting, growing, and harvesting a wide variety of crops were complemented by the hard work of the Bangor Castle Walled Garden staff and volunteers, resulting in an impressive array of fruit and vegetables.

In addition to the produce sales, coins collected from the garden fountain contributed a further £512, bringing the total raised to more than £3,500 for these vital causes.

The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Gillian McCollum, said:
"This incredible effort reflects the generosity of our community and the dedication of volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this possible. These funds will make a real difference to the charities we support."

Bangor Horticultural Society and the Bangor Castle Walled Garden team extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated and helped make this initiative such a success.
