Play parks
Ards and North Down Borough Council has recently agreed a Play Strategy for the Borough. Outdoor Recreation NI (ORNI) was commissioned to develop a Play Strategy for the period 2021-2032. A new Borough wide Play Strategy sets out recommendations for the next 11 years and a detailed Action Plan outlining the priorities for the next 5 years which will be subject to a review at the end of this period.
The Play Strategy Document (PDF) can be downloaded from the list at the bottom of this page.
Parks and Playparks during the Covid19 Pandemic
Our parks and playparks currently remain open to allow people to take daily exercise locally. Please be responsible if enjoying our beautiful parks and open spaces:
- Keep your distance from others
- Maintain good hand hygiene
- If bins are full, take your litter home and recycle it appropriately
- Be considerate of others and #ShareTheSpace
- Keep dogs under control
Following Northern Ireland Executive guidance, all play parks across the Borough reopened 10 July 2020 on a pre-covid basis with a focus on user self-regulation. That means parents and guardians are required to take responsibility for social distancing and appropriate supervision. Reopening has been subject to risk assessments carried out in accordance with the HSE NI recommendations
