Summer schemes

Volunteer Opportunities

Are you interested in volunteering with children’s summer schemes? Why not come along and find out more about Volunteering with the Community Development Team

What’s it all about?

You can volunteer your time during the Summer Scheme using your own unique skills and talents. Or you can learn some new Skills and Techniques.

Why should I volunteer?

You’ll be able to add value to our schemes by bringing your own skills and abilities, you can also learn new techniques and gain an OCN Level I in Volunteering. At the same time, you will be making friends with other like-mind volunteers, staff and building relations with the children who attend.

When & where is Summer Scheme happening?

From 16 July to 3 August, 10.00 – 15.00 at the following locations: -

Reburn Community Centre, Holywood
Ald. George Green Community Centre, Bangor
West Winds Community Centre, Newtownards
Portavogie Community Centre, Ards Peninsula
Ballygowan Community Hall, Ards West

Who can Volunteer?

Volunteer places are open to both Adults and Young People 14-17 years.

What do I need to do?

Have a chat with us first, then you will need to complete an application form. It’s a bit like applying for a job but without the pressure of an interview. Instead we will talk to you about why and where you want to volunteer. The application will also inform you (if you are an adult) that you are required to undergo an Access NI (ANI) check to ensure you are an appropriate adult to work with children.

If you are a young person, you will also need to complete and application form but your parent/guardian must also complete a consent form giving you permission to volunteer with ANDBC. Young people do not need to undergo and ANI check because they will be mentored by an adult team member and will not be responsible for other children.

Closing date for application – 21st June 2018 @4pm.
