Blue Bins - Updated June 2020

Currently additional blue bin capacity is only available to:

  • households with six or more people permanently residing in the property
  • residents with a medical condition/disability that generates additional waste

Prior to the COVID19 pandemic, any household consistently struggling with bin capacity for their recyclables could request the larger 360l blue bin. A member of Council staff would call with the householder to discuss. Assuming that all available household recycling capacity was already being used correctly, where possible, the request for a larger bin was granted.

In response to the COVID19 lockdown, the Waste and Cleansing department has experienced a significant increase in demand for the larger blue bins. Unfortunately it has not been possible to accommodate all these requests.

At this time and until further notice, priority for additional recycling capacity is being reserved for larger households and residents with a medical condition/disability that generates additional waste.

Please contact us by phone on: 0300 013 3333 ext.3, or by email: recycling@ardsandnorthdown.gov.uk if your household meets the current criteria and would like to request a larger blue bin. Please provide your full address and a contact telephone number and a member of the team will contact you to discuss.

If your household does not meet the above criteria and you would like to request additional blue bin capacity, please contact the team to discuss.
