Naval vessel docked in Bangor

Local residents and visitors to the town had the opportunity to climb aboard to get a closer look at the impressive naval vessel.

The ship is usually based at Clyde Naval Base in Scotland and is one of seven Mine Counter-Measures Vessels in the Royal Navy. It hosts almost 40 personnel, including mine warfare specialists and mine clearance divers.

Prior to the ship’s departure on 17 September, the Mayor of Ards and North Down, Alderman Bill Keery, hosted a reception for the crew at Bangor Castle where he presented a special commemorative plaque on behalf of the Council
