Acts of Remembrance in Ards and North Down 2020
Details about Remembrance Day 2020 in Ards and North Down
Normally at this time of year we would be inviting residents to join with us to participate in Acts of Remembrance across Ards and North Down, with this year’s ceremonies taking place on Sunday 1 November in Groomsport and Sunday 8 November at War Memorials across the Borough.
Unfortunately, due to the current covid-19 pandemic and associated restrictions, things are going to be a bit different this year. In line with Government and Royal British Legion guidelines, there will be no parades and the Acts of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremonies will be limited to 15 invited participants at the War Memorials.
Sadly, we have to request that members of the public do not attend the War Memorials during the Acts of Remembrance at 11am.
If you would like to lay a wreath, plant a cross or have a moment of quiet reflection please do so at an alternative time over the weekend and please ensure that you abide by the social distancing and maximum gathering regulations.
We look forward to sharing in the Act of Remembrance with you all again next year.
From 23 October – 11 November 2020 we will be sharing messaging daily on the Councils social media channels in the run up to Armistice Day 2020.
Remembrance is an ideal time to bring people of all ages and backgrounds together to reflect upon the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces, and to join together in the hope for a brighter, peaceful future.
Why not take some time with the younger members of your family and colour in and display these graphics in your windows.
