Put Health into the Heart of your Business
Ards and North Down Borough Council, in partnership with the Public Health Agency, is hosting a free one-day Health and Wellbeing Fair on Thursday 14 November at Ards Blair Mayne Wellbeing and Leisure Complex…
Held as part of the Council's Mind, Body and Business initiative, the event is designed to help local organisations put “health” in the heart of their business and will showcase Health and Wellbeing services and initiatives from organisations that could positively impact on the health of employees in local businesses, ultimately contributing to improved morale and productivity.
The Health Fair is open from 11am – 6pm so call in anytime and learn more about how to help improve the health and wellbeing of your staff, increase your awareness of mental health and disability challenges and how to meet your legal Health and Safety obligations.
Lots of advice and information will be available from our partner organisations at the event which will help improve morale and productivity. There will also be the opportunity for businesses to register with “Mind, Body and Business” and avail of priority places on forthcoming courses:
• FREE First Aid in the Workplace accredited training courses
• FREE Health Checks in February and March 2020
• FREE Step Challenge Event Programme
• FREE Taster activities including: Boxercise, Healthy Eating and Nordic walking
Exhibitors will include: Action Mental Health, offering workplace courses on Stress Awareness and Mental Health First Aid; Cancer Focus NI, offering skin cancer prevention advice and smoking cessation services; and South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, offering advice on how local businesses can introduce the 5 steps to wellbeing to their workplace.
Mayor of Ards and North Down, Alderman Bill Keery said; “Strengthening the local economy is a key priority for Ards and North Down Borough Council and we are committed to supporting our business community. Evidence shows that a business that looks after its employees will enjoy improved performance and creativity and reduced accidents and absence rates which all contribute to increase profit. Our Mind, Body and Business partnership reminds us that ‘health is our wealth’ and provides free or low-cost health and wellbeing initiatives for the benefit of local businesses”
Suzy McCotter, from Cancer Focus NI, said: “We are delighted to be attending the fair and will be telling businesses all about our workplace-based stop smoking support services and skin cancer prevention project. Both of these projects are funded by the Public Health Agency, so can be provided in workplaces at no cost to businesses.”
This event is open to all employers and employees located in Ards and North Down.
