Proclamation for the County of Down of His Majesty King Charles III

Friday 9th September 2022

Sunday 11 September at 3pm at the Town Hall, Bangor Castle

The Proclamation in County Down of the new King will take place on Sunday 11 September at 3pm at the Town Hall, Bangor Castle. The public are welcome to attend this short ceremony. 

The Proclamation will be read by the High Sheriff of County Down, James Smyth. 

A Special Meeting of Council to pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will take place on Sunday afternoon at 4pm. This meeting will be recorded and an audio recording will be made available on the Council website on Monday. 

Books of Condolence are available for the public to sign at the Town Hall, Bangor and the Town Hall/ Arts Centre, Newtownards.  Opening hours for signing the Book of Condolence will be 10.00am to 12 noon and 2.00pm to 4.00pm Monday to Friday.

Anyone wishing to leave a floral tribute can do so at the flagpole in Castle Park, Bangor and the flagpole in Conway Square, Newtownards.
