Positive Community Relations Promoted Through Sport

Tuesday 12th April 2022

Ards and North Down Borough Council’s Good Relations team hosted the Game of 3 Halves at Holywood’s Spafield Playing Fields earlier this month

Sports clubs from around the Borough attended the event with members of Ards Rangers Football Club, Ballygalget Hurley Club, Holywood Rugby Club and Holywood GAA Club learning about their counterpart’s sports.

Players were split into mixed teams in each of the different sports and they all had the opportunity to learn new skills while building relationships with other children. They each enjoyed a ‘third half’ in which community relations were promoted both on and off the field.

It was the first time the programme had been organised since 2019. It was facilitated by the PeacePlayers and funded by the Executive Office through Ards and North Down Borough Council’s Good Relations programme.
