Online HRC Booking System gets underway.
As a means of improving its Household Recycling Centre services, from Monday 4th September 2023, Ards and North Down Borough Council introduced a new online booking system for access to its nine Household Recycling Centres (HRCs).
This means that access to any of the HRCs across the Borough is now only possible via a pre-booked slot.
During the first week of the booking system, over 6,250 bookings were received across the nine sites, with 95% of bookings made online and 5% taken via telephone.
Initial comments from site users have been positive in relation to the new system;

Bookings can be made quickly and easily online, taking just a minute or two to complete via: www.ardsandnorthdown.gov.uk/hrcbooking
Those without access to the internet can call 0300 013 3333 (Option 4) Monday – Friday. Lines will be open between 0900– 1630 and bookings will be taken over the phone.

Managing access to HRC sites will help us to achieve our environmental objectives and increase recycling rates as we strive to achieve a recycling rate of 70% by 2030, significantly reducing the cost of the waste disposal burden borne by our ratepayers as we prevent use of our facilities for commercial and out of Borough waste.
We have reviewed similar systems in place at councils across the UK and have learned from their arrangements. We hope that residents will find it effective and that it will improve their experience in relation to using our HRCs.
