Ards and North Down Borough Council is backing a national day of celebration on 5 July 2020 to mark the birthday of the NHS.

It’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate the achievements of one of the nation’s most loved institutions, to appreciate the vital role the service plays in our lives, and to recognise and thank the extraordinary NHS staff – the everyday heroes – who are there to guide, support and care for us, day in, day out.

In 2020, we've clapped for carers, looked out for the rainbows and stayed at home to help protect our local Health and Social Care staff and services from being overwhelmed during the COVID19 pandemic. To mark the NHS Birthday, we have worked with the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust to highlight the crucial work being done by their staff at a local level during a global health crisis.

Make yourself a cup of tea and read what some of our Health and Social Care workers have to say, in their own words. Read more: ardsandnorthdown.gov.uk/nhsbirthday

We also invite all our residents to join the nation for a special one-off #ClapForCarers – the biggest yet, at 5pm on Sunday 5 July 2020 to mark the 72nd birthday of the NHS.
