New Pan-Disability Summer Scheme in Newtownards
Excited children from across the borough are enjoying a new pan-disability summer scheme at Ards Blair Mayne Wellbeing and Leisure Complex…
The two-week scheme, which runs until 11 July, is aimed at those with a disability and is open to children aged 6 to 14. It provides activities to develop co-ordination, confidence and burn off energy in a structured but friendly and fun environment.
The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Alderman Bill Keery, said:
“The new pan-disability summer scheme has been received really well by children and their parents. It’s great to see so many happy, smiling faces having fun in our excellent leisure centre facilities. They are all really enjoying a variety of activities and I think the parents who stay to watch are having just as much fun too!”
Each morning is split into three one-hour sessions with children having the opportunity to enjoy games in the sports hall, try the Blacklight Adventure Zone and swim in the Minor Pool where a pool hoist is also available.
Week one of the scheme has proved to be a huge hit with the children and bookings are now being taken for week two which runs from 8-11 July. The scheme is priced at £25.60 for all four days (9am-midday) and is limited to 24 places.
