New Community Development Toolkit for Ards and North Down
A new Community Development Toolkit has been launched to help community groups improve the lives of people and communities across Ards and North Down.
Created through a partnership between Ards and North Down Borough Council and three community networks - the Ards Development Bureau and Community Network, the County Down Rural Community Network as well as the North Down Community Network - the Toolkit contains a series of informative articles and factsheets that provide community groups with vital information and guidance.
The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Alderman Bill Keery, said:
“The partners who worked on the Toolkit recognise and share the values that underpin community development work. They have compiled a range of informative articles and factsheets that will empower new and existing groups to improve the lives of people across our borough.”
“The Toolkit guides local groups through the Community Development process. It details everything from how a committee works and how to value community volunteers through to communication as well as planning and managing local events. It will assist our local communities in their attempts to make our borough a better place to live.”
The pack also contains useful factsheets on dealing with statutory authorities and partnership working, governance issues and basic financial management.
Printed copies of the Toolkit are available from Ards and North Down Borough Council’s Community Development team and the three partner community networks. It can also be downloaded from ardsandnorthdown.gov.uk/community-development. For more information, contact 0300 013 3333.
