Launch of Integrated Strategy: Tourism, Regeneration and Economic Development

Thursday 5th April 2018

Growing our economy, welcoming visitors and improving our borough

Ards and North Down Borough Council launched its Integrated Strategy for Tourism, Regeneration and Economic Development on 28th March in Orangetree House, Greyabbey. This unique and collaborative approach to creating greater prosperity across our borough aims to make it become an even better place to live and work.

Following a warm welcome to the assembled guests by Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Robert Adair, Ards and North Down Council's Chief Executive Stephen Reid introduced the strategy to the audience. As a coherent vision for the pursuit of prosperity in the Borough of Ards and North Down, the strategy responds to the vision and outcomes of the Community Plan for the area. It is to be used as the common point of reference for all those contributing to the growth of our economy, the welcoming of visitors and the improvement of our places, both urban and rural.

The audience heard from several guest speakers including:

Neil McCullough: Associate Director, Oxford Economics
John McGrillen: Chief Executive, Tourism NI
Neil McInroy: Chief Executive, Centre for Local Economic Strategies

Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make the launch event a success. The full Integrated Strategy (as well as Summary Booklet and copy of the Launch Presentation slides) can be found on our website.
