Get Going in Positive Ageing Month!
Ards and North Down Borough Council, alongside the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust and the Public Health Agency, is encouraging various groups, individuals and organisations to get involved as part of Positive Ageing Month this October…
As we are all aware, older people have been facing challenges with mental health, loneliness and isolation due to the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic. We want to support our older generation and encourage them to get involved and back out into their communities and groups to build confidence and self-esteem.
Positive Ageing Month is held throughout the month of October and gives people the opportunity to sample activities, taster sessions and informative talks that will help develop knowledge and promote a more active lifestyle.
This is a month-long festival of events and activities for older people. It celebrates the contribution older people make to their communities. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 and the current restrictions in place to keep people safe, we are unable to bring everyone together this year. Instead, we have worked in partnership with other organisations to bring an online calendar of events delivered via Zoom that you can participate in free of charge. They range from:
• Exercise classes
• Cookery demonstrations
• Health messages
• Discussion panels
• Virtual Tea Dance
• Plus many more
Check out all of the great activities happening throughout the month of October by viewing the Positive Ageing Interactive Brochure.
