Monday 17th February 2020

Ards and North Down Borough Council is celebrating the success of its Bin-ovation app which has reached the impressive milestone of more than 30,000 users in the borough!

The Mayor reveals 30,000 users for Bin-ovation app

Launched in April 2015, the free app provides all the essential information that residents need about bin collections and recycling centres in Ards and North Down. Its easy-to-use search function allows users to identify the correct bins to use for a host of household items, helping to maximise everyone’s recycling efforts in the borough.

The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Alderman Bill Keery, said:

“The app has been a real ‘bin-ovation’ for Ards and North Down. It provides details about the borough’s recycling centres - including opening times, locations and the types of waste accepted - and it provides timely bin collection reminders on phones and tablets.”

“Most importantly, it helps residents send more waste to recycling plants rather than landfill. They can search for specific waste products and the app can help identify the correct bin for the waste. With this essential information at residents’ fingertips, it ensures waste isn’t disposed of in the wrong bin. This helps to reduce pollution and is better for the environment – and that benefits everyone in Ards and North Down.”

The Ards and North Down Borough Council Bin-ovation app is available on Apple’s App Store and the Google Play Store for Android.
