Chilli Exhibition Will Make Temperatures Rise in Walled Garden!
Bangor Castle Walled Garden is sure to be spicy this September with a free exhibition of chillies from around the world set to go on display.
The four-day exhibition is free to attend and gets underway from Thursday 1 September to Sunday 4 September. Running each day from 10am-5pm, the event will showcase many different varieties of chilli plants from across the globe, in all different shapes, sizes and colours.
During the summer, Ards and North Down Borough Council's Walled Garden team has been growing more than 100 varieties of chilli plants, originating from Africa, Asia, South America and closer to home in Europe. The Chilli Exhibition will give visitors a chance to view the plants and see if they can find the hottest chilli, which hits an eye watering 2.5 million on the Scoville scale!
Local vendors will be on site to sell their chilli inspired products from hot sauces to chilli jam – so there is sure to be a treat for everyone in the family to enjoy.
Live music will be provided each afternoon and 'The Jazzmaster' three-piece band will entertain attendees from 12 noon until 2pm each day. There will be some great hits from across the jazz and blues spectrum, including big hits from the likes of Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and Michael Bublé.
Coffee Cure in the Walled Garden will offer a chilli-themed meal box to celebrate the occasion, containing chilli sausage rolls, chilli cheese and chilli jam with crackers. The meal box will cost £8 and can be collected from Coffee Cure during the exhibition.
Pre-orders for the meal boxes are welcomed and can be ordered by calling into Coffee Cure or telephone 028 9127 8050 by Friday 26 August.
