Alderman Jimmy Menagh
It is with great sadness we share that Alderman James Menagh – Jimmy – passed away on Sunday 1 May 2022, following a period of illness.

Alderman Menagh was an Independent Member of Ards and North Down Borough Council representing Newtownards. First elected to Ards Borough Council in 2011 and then to Ards and North Down Borough Council in 2015, he became an Alderman in 2019.
Mayor Councillor Mark Brooks has paid tribute to Alderman Menagh:
“Jimmy was a deeply committed councillor who was a passionate advocate for our local community and especially for the town of Newtownards, which he represented on Council and deeply loved. He will be dearly missed by all his council colleagues and staff as well as the residents and many local causes he represented. We will hear much about his contributions over the coming days. My thoughts and deepest condolences are with his partner Nichola and his family circle.”
A special Council meeting, to be held via zoom, has been scheduled for tributes to be paid to Alderman Menagh and this will take place on Monday 9 May at 7.00pm.
