Quotation for Our Story in The Making: NI Beyond 100 Public Art Project

Ards and North Down Borough Council is creating a Centenary Garden and orchard of 100 trees at a designated site at Whitespots Country Park, adjacent to the Somme Heritage Centre to mark the centenary of Northern Ireland. The Borough is recognised as an area of outstanding natural beauty with rich and unique wildlife and eco-systems.

The Centenary Garden will include a community orchard, interpretative signage and a path network that links to the existing car park. It will be a place where everyone can visit to engage with nature and reflect on our shared history. By planting this area, the Council will leave a legacy for the future generations to enjoy.

Ards and North Down Borough Council is also participating in a province wide initiative to mark the centenary of Northern Ireland funded by the Northern Ireland Office and invites artists to tender for the ‘Our Story in the Making: NI Beyond 100’ public art project.

Through this project, the Arts Service wishes to enhance the Centenary Garden experience through engagement with public art that is complimentary and/or sympathetic to the natural environment.

The project is to the value of £4000.
