Ards and North Down Borough Council (the Council) has developed a Safeguarding Policy for children, young people and adults who may be vulnerable, which applies to all employees, agency workers, Elected Members, volunteers and all those organisations that have a working relationship with the Council. Contractors, sub-contractors, external individuals or groups hired or commissioned by the Council for service provision purposes will be required to be aware of their responsibilities within this policy.

There is an expectation that all employees and Elected Members will work in partnership to apply this policy to their work with children, young people and adults who may be at risk of harm or in need of protection.

The Policy includes:

  • Safeguarding arrangements
  • Designated Officers and persons
  • Planning activities and supervision ratios
  • Event management
  • Code of Behaviour guidance
  • Training
  • Risk assessment
  • Recognising abuse
  • Reporting guidelines and incident form
  • Recording images
  • Useful numbers
