Ards Half Marathon and Walk 2016
Ards Half Marathon and Walk will start at 6.30pm on Friday 24 June 2016. The half marathon is Athletics Northern Ireland's 2016 Championship race.
The ninth Ards Half Marathon and Walk takes place on Friday 24 June 2016. Starting and finishing at Ards Leisure Centre in Newtownards, the 13.1 mile route takes runners through the town and surrounding countryside. The walk route covers approximately nine miles of the half marathon route.
Athletics Northern Ireland Half Marathon Championship
The race is open to all clubs affiliated to Athletics Northern Ireland and Ulster, including Monaghan, Cavan and Donegal. To be eligible, runners must be a registered member of an affiliated club and include their registration number on their entry form. Each club team must have four members.
The first three male and female individuals and teams will receive medals.
Entering the half marathon
To enter, you must be 17 years of age or over on race day. You can enter online, download an entry form below or request a printed entry form by contacting our Sports Development office. If you're entering as an affiliated club member, you need to include your registration number.

Entering the walk
To enter, you must be 16 years of age or over on race day. Entry fee is £15. You can enter online, download an entry form below or request an entry form by post. There are no refunds.

Race pack collection and race information
You can collect race and walk packs from 22 June in Ards Leisure Centre. To receive your race pack, you need to present print or mobile confirmation of your entry which will show your race number.

The first thousand entrants to the half marathon and walk combined receive a tee-shirt. All finishers receive a medal. The first 100 finishers receive a medal with a Top 100 red ribbon, the second 100 finishers receive a medal with a Top 200 blue ribbon. The walk is not competitive.
There will be ten prizes for male and female race competitors. There will also be prizes for race winners in wheelchair, different age categories and oldest and youngest competitors.
Male and Female open race prizes:
First £400, Second £250, Third £200, Fourth £150, Fifth £100, Sixth £75, Seventh £50, Eighth £40, Ninth £30 and Tenth £20
Wheelchair race prize: £50 (minimum of two entrants required for prize to be awarded)
First in each male and female age category receives £20:
