Spring is in the air for local craft businesses
Once again Conway Square in Newtownards will be transformed into an outdoor tented craft village when ‘Spring into Craft’ comes to town on Friday 31 March 2017.

This is a new event organised by Ards and North Down Borough Council to herald the start of the 2017 craft season and to profile the ever growing number of local craft businesses in the area.

What’s new about this event is that visitors will have an opportunity to not only see and buy craft from over 28 local makers but have a go at making in a series of free taster drop in sessions.  Visitors can try their hand at sculpting little clay birds; have a go on a Potter’s wheel; paint a seascape or still life; give welt felting and Dorset Button making a go, as well as lots more.

The event is open from 10am until 6pm and features ceramicists, jewellery designers, painters, textile artists, potters, card makers, glass artists and wood workers.

And to add to the atmosphere, BeatnDrum, a 6-piece Samba band will be entertaining visitors from 11am to 3pm, with a chance to get involved followed by a couple of musical sets by guest musicians from 3pm 5pm.

For more information on the event, including the times of taster making sessions, pop into Ards Crafts, Craft and Design Centre at 31 Regent Street or visit the event website www.visitardsandnorthdown.com
Taster sessions are for aged 18+.  In the event of inclement weather, this event may be postponed or relocated to another venue.
